My progress on this website has admittedly slowed down to a crawl. But I am working on something that I am really passionate about, and it takes time. I want this done well, and I want this done right. That being said, I’d like to give a little teaser for what this will be about. Introducing: SAFE SPACE.
SAFE SPACE will be a new page on this website promoting just that, a safe space. The idea behind it is to encourage healthy communication and enlighten readers on how to partake in that movement. SAFE SPACE will be an acronym, with each letter representing a way in which you can contribute toward communicating in a productive, safe, and healthy manner. This doesn’t just apply to meeting and interacting with strangers. It’s about how you treat every person in your life. Strengthening your relationship with friends, family members, coworkers, employers, employees, clients, and anybody else you come across is invaluable.
Due to my desire to do this right, there are two things forcing a delay on releasing it. For one, I want to create a graphic for it. I am not inherently talented in the arts, nor am I ever satisfied with my own creations, so the graphic may have to just end up being a draft at some point with a final polish later on in the future. The other hold-up is research. I do not want to just put words on the screen and hope that people read and adhere to them. I am not a doctor, therapist, or psychologist, nor shall I pretend to be one. The page will be introductory to certain concepts and will follow that up with links to resources available. That way, you won’t have to just take my word for it. There will be concrete information from sources elsewhere to show truly how widespread and important this issue is.
Thank you for understanding and for remaining patient. I trust that this will all be worth it once I finally release it. In the meantime, please, if you haven’t already, check out the articles I wrote for CSULB’s magazine DIG MAG. They are all located on my Home Page. If this post makes you think about mental health and/or therapy, here is a specific article I wrote on how someone can approach therapy, whether it be finding the right fit online, considering a test run, or learning strategies to help prepare for a session with a therapist.
